The Meridian Historical Village Summer Day Camp gives kids ages 8 to 12 a week of hands-on Michigan history, with a different theme each day exploring how life in our state has changed over the centuries.

Daily Themes

Each day of camp explores a different chapter in Michigan's story:

Monday: Frontier Michigan

Discover what life was like for Michigan's earliest European settlers. Explore the log cabin and learn about the skills needed to survive on the frontier.

Tuesday: Rural Michigan

Step into the world of small-town Michigan. Visit the general store and schoolhouse to see how rural communities came together.

Wednesday: Homestead Michigan

Experience daily life on a Michigan homestead. Activities center on the farmhouse, with hands-on work in cooking, preserving, and household crafts.

Thursday: Growing Michigan

Learn about agriculture and how Michigan families fed themselves and their communities. Explore the connections between farming, seasons, and the land.

Friday: Michigan Moves On

Trace how transportation and technology changed Michigan from frontier territory to modern state. Discover the role of roads, tollgates, and railroads in connecting communities.
